This is a small etching of The Saint Nicholas Memorial Chapel, my favorite historic building in Kenai. It was built in 1906 across from Kenai’s first church, the Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church, which was built in 1849. This small chapel is the final resting place of Kenai’s first Russian Orthodox missionary, Father Nikolai, his reader, Makay Ivanov, and another unnamed monk. Here, the chapel is depicted during snowfall on the winter solstice, the shortest and darkest day of the year.

Note to collectors:
There will always be slight variances between each print. I strive for consistency throughout the edition, but the nature of printing etchings by hand is that no two are exactly alike. Yours will look very similar to, but not exactly like, the print shown here. For me that is a great strength, not a weakness, of this fantastically interesting medium.
