This etching is based on a small lake tree right outside the studio, using some imagination to finish the composition. I love using aquatint for tone and texture, but for this etching I decided to practice drawing fundamentals. It was drawn using only a needle, plus a tool I made where I glued several needles together to fill in larger areas of tone. There is no aquatint or even drypoint lines, just a simple, traditional etching.
